TRACAB signs partnership agreement with DataStadium to provide super-statistics for J-League football
Tokyo, February 26th 2010. Swedish company TRACAB has entered into a partnership agreement with Japanese DataStadium to provide unique real-time statistics for J-League football. The contract is for three years and means that TRACAB takes an important step into the Asian market. TRACAB’s technology will enhance the overall viewing experience and create new streams of information for the J-League clubs to analyse.
DataStadium and TRACAB will provide Japanese J-League football and a range of media outlets with statistics and sports content which have not previously been possible.DataStadium is the undisputed leader in providing the Japanese market with real-time scores and statistics for a variety of sports including J-League football. The partnership with TRACAB enables the provision of real-time positioning data, calculation of player performance, ball and team position and speeds amongst many other things.
Mr Yoshihiko Kato, President of DataStadium said: “The choice of TRACAB as our part-ner had a lot to do with the fact that they have the best proven technology for producing exciting real-time statistics. But what came to be the decisive factor in our choice was TRACAB’s broad experience from working with entire football leagues, something no other provider has”.
TRACAB’s technology has already been used at major events such as UEFA Champions League and the EURO 2008 and is used by several top leagues around Europe.
Rickard Öhrn, COO of TRACAB commented: “We are delighted to team up with DataSta-dium to provide the Japanese viewers, clubs and leagues with our state-of-the-art tech-nology when the J-League season starts on March 6. This establishes us on the Asian market and we see this as an important step in our strategy to be active on all continents across many different sports“.
The TRACAB Image Tracking System™ is based on missile tracking technology devel-oped for the Swedish jet fighter Jas Gripen. The system uses two camera units mounted in the arena grand stand and the system tracks the exact position of all moving objects on the pitch 25 times per second. The usage of stereoscopic tracking makes TRACAB the only company in the world capable of delivering true 3D tracking in real-time.
TRACAB’s technology can be used to cover a wide variety of sports including foot-ball, American football, basketball, tennis and ice hockey.
The TRACAB system will during 2010 be launched in several new leagues and to meet the demands from the clients a new office in London will be opened on April 1st.
