STOCKHOLM: 07th April, 2009 - Tracab, the digital sports company which has added a new dimension to football revenue streams and media services across much of Europe is set to break its own record by covering over 850 live matches during 2009.

The company has signed new contracts with the Swedish, Russian, Austrian and Hungarian Leagues and will deploy its breakthrough tracking and image processing technology to capture detailed on-field data which is processed to create a range of digital products for the media, fans and coaches.

Tracab, whose systems also delivers data through Delta Tre for UEFA, uses image processing technology developed by its partner SAAB, the Swedish aerospace giant, to track and record the movement of players, officials and the ball.

Data is processed to deliver a real time 3 dimensional representation of the game delivered online to fans in the Tracab Virtual Arena which is presented in partnership with media companies in a number of countries.

The system also delivers data, graphics and sophisticated replay and action analysis tools for broadcasters as well as live game data for online media and mobile operators. It also delivers detailed live and archive performance analysis data for managers and coaches.

Since its launch, Tracab has successfully delivered data from more than 1,500 top level domestic and European club games as well as international matches.

Johan Apel, Tracab’s CEO believes that football’s digital rights are currently under exploited and that they will deliver an increasing share of overall revenues in the way ahead.

He said: “The virtual world is growing almost by the day and the demand for new ways of enjoying sport is changing and that creates new revenue opportunities We are committed to being part of that transformation.”
